Country Way

June 20, 2012

I received the following this morning:

“I see that you try to get action on the filth, litter and graffiti that blights our lives.  Some photos of what I have to put up with when going to Thames Water site at Kempton.  I took these in the winter and whilst the rubbish is not so visible at this time, it is still there.  The location is A316 Country Way and the two lay bys.  The footpath/cycle path all along the West side of Country Way is also a graffiti ridden, littered cess pit.  It could be so nice with the Portlane Brook running along the side of it.  Grateful for anything you can do.”

I have been given permission to use the email that was sent, including the pictures.  They are:

I reported the matter this morning and the reference number is 007713.

Congratulations Alan Keen

May 7, 2010

Knowing how flat out I, and others on my campaign team, have worked not only during this campaign but over a much longer period, this is clearly an impressive result for Labour.  Naturally I feel very disappointed.  There were things that I did not expect such as the following:

  1. For the Labour vote to hold up in Bedfont, Feltham and Hanworth to hold up the way it did;
  2. For the gap between Labour and Conservatives to be as large as it was in Hounslow West & Cranford and, to a lesser extent, Heston

We secured the most votes in Bedfont, Feltham North, Feltham West, Hanworth Park and Hanworth.  However, Labour won by a much greater margin in Heston West, Heston Central, Heston East, Hounslow West and Cranford.

Labour invested heavily in this constituency and I saw over 20 different items of literature from them during the campaign.  They took the threat of the Conservatives seriously.

I respect and accept the decision of residents in this constituency and congratulate Mr Keen.  I do not think I have ever been so tired when giving a speech before but glad I got through it at around 05:30am.  My team could not have done anything more to win this and I will always be grateful to them for their passion and loyalty.

Off to another count at mid-day.  I hope I will continue as a Councillor for Feltham North.

Yesterday morning in Hanworth

January 24, 2010

Spent yesterday in Hanworth and took note of some things that need to be reported.

1) Footway defect on junction of Winslow Way & Ridge Way

2) Dumped bed opposite 45 Winslow Way

3) Tagging on bus stop opposite 3 Saxon Avenue

4) Tagging next to 2 Winslow Way

5) Potholes outside 11 and 25 Winslow Way

6) Tagging in alley to Cottington Road (off Hounslow Road)

7) Lots of litter by Longford River (in Hounslow Road – between numbers 128 & 136)

I will ask that the agency responsible for this land (it is almost certainly not the Council) pay a visit and advise what schedule they have for litter picking here?

8 ) Lots of graffiti in underpass by A316

Lots of work is needed to remove tagging at the above location between Hounslow Road & Bear Road.  Here are some examples:

9) Tagging near The Hollands

The picture does not capture the amount of graffiti very well but it is clear in person and it on the brown wall next to the fence.

10) Boarded up property at 1 Saxon Avenue

11) Tagging in Sunningdale Avenue (near junction with Saxon Avenue)

12) Tagging in Cross Road, Hanworth

The first is next to number 26:

The next two are on the junction with Crispen Road:

The next is near the junction with Swan Road:

The next is by 40 Cross Road (but the picture has not come out too well).

13) Next to 94 Crispen Road

14) Next to 144 Sunningdale Avenue

Catching up

January 18, 2010

Sorry for the lack of updates during the past couple of weeks.  I have not been out and about much with the weather and not been too well recently.  Will try and do better after a couple of days from now.

A few things to report:

1) In Staines Road, Bedfont (near junction with Richmond Avenue)

The following needs a bit of a clean:

2) Offensive tagging on junction of Cantebury Road & Barnlea Close, Hanworth

Not including this one as it is too offensive but will ask for it to be removed.

3) Empty Property – 95 Cantebury Road

Will report this to the relevant team.

Here is what I saw yesterday evening.  The first was near 14 Bideford Close – collection could be today but wonder whether another bin is required?
