Temporary Lights near Baber Bridge

November 1, 2012

The traffic around Staines Road & Hounslow Road was very bad yesterday evening.  There are temporary lights near to Baber Bridge.

I received the following this afternoon:

“National Grid Gas is renewing the medium pressure gas mains in Staines Road between the junction with Hounslow Road and the junction Wellington Road South. The works will be completed by Christmas.

I spoke to the Project Engineer this afternoon and he told me that the temporary traffic lights will be in place until next weekend due to the size and poor condition of the mains.

They will be working extended hours, 7 days a week and the lights will be manned between 8am and 7pm to minimize delays.

Our Area Highway Inspector will visit the site daily to monitor progress.”

The alley at the side of 116 Lansbury Avenue is now looking much better and some panels have been erected:

The rear of Staines Road is not where I would like it to be but it is much better as compared when I first reported the problem and the Council has intervened as much as is legally (and fairly) possible:

Knocked over bollard outside 107 Staines Road:

Tagging on bin outside 119 Staines Road:

Tagging on barrier next to 59 Staines Road:

A few years onward, some of the panels are missing and this is where the litter is worst:

The following needs cutting back:

Will report the above tomorrow!
