Alley between New Road and Helen Avenue

June 5, 2012

I received a very helpful email from a constituent a couple of weeks ago expressing concern about the litter and overgrowth of the alley between New Road and Helen Avenue.  I received the following explanation on 1 June:

“I have received your email regarding the alleyway leading from New Road Feltham to Helen Ave. I have inspected this alleyway and found it to be very overgrown, I will discuss this with the community environment team who can then arrange for the cutting back to take place. Once the hedges and grass has been cut back I can then arrange for the alleyway to be manually swept and any debris removed. I found litter in places in the alleyway and have instructed the supervisor for this area to ensure that the alleyway is monitored every week to ensure that the weekly litterpick which occurs on a Monday actually happens and to the correct standard.”

Here is what I saw over the weekend:

Other than the grass cutting at the Glebelands, which can be seen on the last picture, everything else raises the question of how it has got into that state?  The overgrowth is covering lighting, which raises additional concerns to appearance.

I will ask for timescales for improving matters.

Things reported earlier in the week

August 12, 2011

I was informed yesterday that Council contractors have removed the various Fly Posting that I reported the other day.  I was informed that no permission was requested and Fly Posting is indeed illegal.

And, yesterday evening on a walk with my lovely wife, I noticed that the graffit reported earlier in the week had been removed:

The untidy overgrowth at the New Road end has been reported.

Couple of other things from last weekend

August 10, 2011

Both in the alley from Helen Avenue to New Road.

Graffiti

I received an email about offensive tagging at the same location this morning.  I have reported this and the reference number is 1170393.

Overgrowth

At the New Road end.  Too much around the streetlight also:

Will make a Service Request now.

Alley between Helen Avenue & New Road

May 15, 2011

On Saturday, I noticed the following:

The above is dangerous (especially first and second pages) so will be asking Continental to look at this.

At the side of 75 Helen Avenue, I noticed the following earlier today.  First, not sure whether broken fencing should stay in current form (near entrance to park):

And, abandoned trolley:

Will report in the morning.

Latest on alley between Helen Avenue and New Road

April 28, 2010

I noticed further work taking place yesterday.  I think that the works that have been carried out will make this area much easier to maintain in the future (especially in terms of litter picking).  This whole area looks much neater and tidier than previously so I am very pleased.

But I also need to report some graffiti in Feltham Park by its entrance (Glebelands end):

Will report now.

On my way to (and back from) The Centre

April 6, 2010

Whilst not yet quite complete, things are looking much better in the alley between Helen Avenue and New Road:

I have previously reported the following utility box in Hounslow Road near the junction with Fern Grove (opposite St Giles Hotel).  Here is what I was told:

“I refer to your blog of 24 January, 2010 regarding above subject.   Virgin Media has been notified to repair their broken cabinet within 7 seven days under Section 81 of the New Roads and Street Works Act, to maintain their apparatus in the street to the reasonable satisfaction of the street authority.”

Either it was repaired and then damaged again or it was not repaired at all?  I do not know but it needs attention:

The following needs a visit from TfL – it is outside 37 Harlington Road West:

I am about to report the above.

Update: Alley between Helen Avenue and New Road

February 25, 2010

I took a look at the New Road end earlier today and could see a lot of progress.  A lot of work has been done on removing litter on the piece of land between Station Estate Road and New Road.

Here are some pics:

A couple of things I will bring up in the morning.  First one is that there is still some litter on the right as soon as one enters the alley off New Road:

And the following needs to be tidied up e.g. mound of earth removed:

On the other side of New Road (between the train station and Lidl’s), I noticed the following pocket that had quite a lot of litter on it:

I will try and find out who is responsible for the area contained in the last two pictures.

Alley between Helen Avenue and New Road

Someone mentioned again the amount of litter in bushes in the alley from Helen Avenue to New Road.  I had been informed that some work will take place to the former allotments next to Station Estate Road.  As of today, it had not been but will give it a week before chasing.

Here is what I saw today:

The pictures do not capture how much litter is in many of the bushes.  I think to remove all the litter in this area and in these places would take quite some time but I will see what can be done.

Here is a picture from the New Road end:

Feltham Park

I also took the children to Feltham Park and was pleased when arriving to see someone litter picking:

Lots of markings on the floor – nothing offensive about it but could build up if allowed to stay.

And, there was tagging on the bin in the children’s play area:

The following is open opposite St Giles Hotel:

Tagging near entrance to Station Estate Road:

Same location as the previous picture but looking down, there was quite a lot:

Trolleys in New Road

As with the one at the top of this posting, I wonder how they got there – would things be worse in terms of abandoned trolleys were coins not required for use.  I think matters would be worse.

Big improvement in alleyway

January 4, 2010

I have previously posted on this blog about the large amount of graffiti in the alley between New Road, Feltham and Feltham Park/Helen Avenue.  What a great surprise I had over the weekend to see the following massive improvement:

At the New Road end, I noticed lots of litter the other side of the fence.  I cannot remember who is responsible for this area of land between New Road and Station Estate Road but I will make enquiries.  Here is some of the litter I saw:

Alley between Helen Avenue & New Road, Feltham

June 6, 2009

This alley is much better than it used to be.   The major patching of the various potholes on the path has made a big difference!

The overgrowth was cut back in the last week:

Just wondering whether more should be cut back the other (right) side?  Also, I will make enquiries about removing the graffiti on the wall:

More cutting and removal of graffiti needed on the following picture?:

Will make some enquiries.
