Feltham Park Pond latest

June 30, 2012

I received the following pictures earlier this week and saw the pond for myself yesterday.

I received the following on 25 June:

“As promised I can update you on the latest information regarding Feltham Pond.
John Laing Integrated Services have advised that they are clearing the whole surface of the pond regularly once a week and everyday are cleaning and clearing what they can reach from the edges etc such as the algae and any litter.
A more permanant solution is being sort and I have put JLIS in touch with an outside contractor who are experts in this field in the hope to resolve this problem as soon as possible.”

Lets hope that the improvements continue.  Reporting (and repeat reporting) can clearly make a difference!

Beavers Parade

June 30, 2012

It has been a few months since I have been to the above.  I went there today to the excellent cafe and was delighted to see that the car park has been resurfaced.  I think that this will make a massive difference.

Here is a picture of the carpark from earlier today:

Excellent news but there continues to be a major problem and the side of the parade was especially bad.

I very much hope that the local Councillors are taking an interest in this.  Clearly some excellent news but it is important that people on the Beavers and their representatives report any issues.  In the meantime, I will report this on Monday.

19 June 2012 Borough Council Meeting

June 20, 2012

Here is the agenda from last night.

Item 7 was a free vote in the Conservative Group.  I supported the recommendations and considered them sensible and designed to deal with the concerns expressed over the past year even amongst those of us who supported abolishing Area Planning Committees.

Country Way

June 20, 2012

I received the following this morning:

“I see that you try to get action on the filth, litter and graffiti that blights our lives.  Some photos of what I have to put up with when going to Thames Water site at Kempton.  I took these in the winter and whilst the rubbish is not so visible at this time, it is still there.  The location is A316 Country Way and the two lay bys.  The footpath/cycle path all along the West side of Country Way is also a graffiti ridden, littered cess pit.  It could be so nice with the Portlane Brook running along the side of it.  Grateful for anything you can do.”

I have been given permission to use the email that was sent, including the pictures.  They are:

I reported the matter this morning and the reference number is 007713.

Bethany Waye car park

June 18, 2012

I have not yet taken pictures but have just reported the defects in this carpark (1220694).  I was there on Saturday afternoon.  I have asked (1) When an inspection can take place? (2) By when will the defects be repaired?

School Road carpark

June 18, 2012

On 17 January, I reported a number of defects at the above carpark in Hounslow (1194358).  I received the following response on 20 January:

“The car parks are inspected on a weekly basis.
The inspection for School Road car park prior to your service request was on Wednesday 11th January 2012. We are aware of the surface defects.
As you may know, the car park is currently being used as the access point for the extension / redevelopment of the primary school. This has entailed very large 12 wheeled and articulated lorries using the car park on a regular basis whilst the groundwork, foundations and initial building materials and plant deliveries were carried out.
This has been a fundamental cause of the potholes appearing. According to the builders this phase of heavy vehicle movement through the car park should finish within the next 2 to 3 weeks.
It is planned that once this heavy and damaging traffic has reduced, the necessary repairs will be carried out to the surface and the displaced kerb stones re-laid (subject to budget approval).
The road that the car park exits into at the rear of the shops is private property and its maintenance is not a Council responsibility.”

I used the carpark last Saturday and saw the following:

The first of the above pictures is especially bad.  It is located at the entrance to the carpark.

In terms of why the defects remain (or are worse), I can only assume that the heavy vehicle movement has not yet ended or that it has ended but no budget approval has been received.

Whatever the explanation, the amount of defects in this carpark is unacceptable.

Final bit of the Diamond Jubilee

June 11, 2012

I took my children to the last hour of the Carnival at Blenheim Park on Saturday.  I was glad that the weather was better than it is today.

Yesterday, I went to the Hounslow Barracks and it was the first time I had done so since the Welsh Guards arrived.  I went to attend the Diamond Jubilee Event at the Cavalry barracks.

Before the celebrations, I joined some other Councillors at the the official opening of the Reflective garden space at the Service Family Accommodation Area in Beavers Crescent.  Councillor Sharma said some very nice words.

A couple of pictures taken:

Always pleased to see Welsh and UK flags together!

It was a brilliant event, especially for the children.

I took my children to see the following:

 A great view!

Alley between New Road and Helen Avenue

June 5, 2012

I received a very helpful email from a constituent a couple of weeks ago expressing concern about the litter and overgrowth of the alley between New Road and Helen Avenue.  I received the following explanation on 1 June:

“I have received your email regarding the alleyway leading from New Road Feltham to Helen Ave. I have inspected this alleyway and found it to be very overgrown, I will discuss this with the community environment team who can then arrange for the cutting back to take place. Once the hedges and grass has been cut back I can then arrange for the alleyway to be manually swept and any debris removed. I found litter in places in the alleyway and have instructed the supervisor for this area to ensure that the alleyway is monitored every week to ensure that the weekly litterpick which occurs on a Monday actually happens and to the correct standard.”

Here is what I saw over the weekend:

Other than the grass cutting at the Glebelands, which can be seen on the last picture, everything else raises the question of how it has got into that state?  The overgrowth is covering lighting, which raises additional concerns to appearance.

I will ask for timescales for improving matters.

Car park opposite Feltham Train Station

June 5, 2012

I noticed the following at the above carpark over the weekend:

I will ask for the following:

  1. The schedule for maintaining this car park?
  2. Why it has got into the above state, especially the first picture.
