Yesterday in Heston West

February 28, 2010

Managed to begin delivering the latest leaflet and got quite a few out considering the up and down nature of the weather.

Not as many things picked up as usual:

1) Flyposting

My blog does reflect how much tagging and graffiti I report.  It does not capture the amount of flyposting I report partly because I do not wish to advertise such businesses.  Here is an example near 159 High Street, Cranford, from yesterday:

The above damages the streetscene as much as tagging in my opinion.

2) Damaged utility box

The following is in Somerset Waye (near the junction with Cranford Lane):

3) Grass verges

I know I have commented about this before.   I think it is a shame when people drive over these.   The first is outside 139a Brabazon Road:

The  next is outside 52 Brabazon Road:

And, 8, 14, 20 & 47 Meadow Waye:

4) New Community Centre

I was pleased to see the following (previous pictures showed it boarded up):

It was being opened that day by Councillor Elizabeth Hughes.

5) Highways

Was pleased to see something I reported had been repaired to a good standard:

Outside 39 Cobham Road:

Outside 99 Cobham Road:

64 Meadow Waye:

The carriageway looks very bad outside 195 Brabazon Road:

6) The UK Flag being flown with pride

Great to see outside Cranford Community College – sorry for no close up:

What will Colin Ellar and Robin Taylor if they see this?

Will report matters, where appropriate, tomorrow.

Official Opening of Heart of Hounslow

February 25, 2010

I attended this earlier this afternoon.  I would say around 30 to 40 people were present, including Councillors Pam Fisher, John Todd, Brad Fisher, Paul Jabbal, Peta Vaught & Jagdish Sharma.

We received a number of presentations, a Q&A session and Ann Keen MP finished the event with a few words.  I enjoyed her speech.

Harlington Road West looking neat & tidy earlier today

February 25, 2010

I was really pleased to see the lack of litter outside both parades earlier today:

Nothing to report 🙂

Lampton Road earlier today

February 25, 2010

I noticed quite a lot of bags outside 38 & 44:

I also noticed that the street sign for Thamesvale Close needs to be straightened:

Will report each of the above tomorrow.

Update: Alley between Helen Avenue and New Road

February 25, 2010

I took a look at the New Road end earlier today and could see a lot of progress.  A lot of work has been done on removing litter on the piece of land between Station Estate Road and New Road.

Here are some pics:

A couple of things I will bring up in the morning.  First one is that there is still some litter on the right as soon as one enters the alley off New Road:

And the following needs to be tidied up e.g. mound of earth removed:

On the other side of New Road (between the train station and Lidl’s), I noticed the following pocket that had quite a lot of litter on it:

I will try and find out who is responsible for the area contained in the last two pictures.

Ponds in Feltham (other than Feltham Park)

February 25, 2010

I keep my eye on the one in Feltham Park almost daily.  It is looking good.

Pond on Feltham High Street

I took a walk down Feltham High Street earlier today and the pond on the High Street looked really nice overall.  Here are some pics:

Still have two things to report.  First is the graffiti by the perimeter of the pond:

And, there was a problem with some litter and other debris at the edge of just one part:

Bridge Pond

This is looking much, much better.  I know that my colleague, Becky Stewart, was on to this.  Glad to see the improvements:

Feltham Park was probably the biggest problem in the past, especially in the first couple of years in my time as a Councillor.  But, as things stand, things are looking better with all ponds.  It is good to see because when well maintained I think that they add real value to the area.

Will report the couple of issues tomorrow.

Cambria Court yesterday afternoon

February 25, 2010

No idea why so many cones but will find out:

Labour revert to type on immigration debate

February 23, 2010

Read this earlier today.  The likes of John Denham have had their previous efforts wasted maybe?

For anyone who believes in this country and believes in good race relations, we really do need to get rid of this worst Labour Government in history.  This latest episode demonstrates that they have learnt nothing from their tactic of using the term ‘race card’ between 1997 & 2001.

One to watch on BBC4

February 22, 2010

I will be setting my Sky+ for this.  I will have an Executive Meeting at the time.

Brentford & Waterloo resident, Alan Keen, is one of the Characters.  I wonder whether he will write a review on his website?  I will certainly look out for one later in the week.

Two things in Staines Road, Bedfont yesterday

February 21, 2010

I observed the following tagging outside 400 Staines Road, Bedfont:

And, outside the Ladbrokes (near junction with Bedfont Lane), lots of black bags:

I will report both tomorrow morning.
