A busy and emotional week

February 28, 2009

For the first time, I paid the Feltham Young Offenders Institute a visit this week.  I am really glad that I did.  I visited with Mary Macloed & Chris Grayling.  Had a very interesting chat with the Deputy Governor and some of his colleagues.  Got to see the work areas and visited a couple of the empty cells.  I even bumped into someone I had not seen since University who was doing some work connected to his job.

Like Millions of people, I was very sorry to hear about the loss of David Cameron’s son, Ivan.  I can think of nothing worse than losing a child and my heart goes out to him.

Been busy with the day job, sat in on an appointments panel at the Council, attended Executive and attended a surgery in Sparrow Farm.

Wales lost in the rugby last night but I watched a programme after it about Ray Gravell (please note that this will disappear in a few days) – very, very emotional and the song that was written by/for him is lovely.  For anyone who likes rugby, I would recommend watching it.

100% Mortgages

I heard on the news this morning that the Prime Minister wants to see an end to the above.  Before looking at the pros and cons, my first thought was that this is how I managed to get on the housing ladder.

Save our Pubs

February 21, 2009

Glad to see this campaign has been launched.  I do not think it should be under-estimated just how bad the smoking ban has been for so many lots of pubs & clubs in this country.

As much as I would not have voted for the ban, I am not certain that it is possible to go back.

Letters page in Chronicle

Always glad to get a mention.  See this letter.

What Mr Taylor did not say was that my comments about Mr Keen and this issue were made in November 2008.  There has since been a vote in the House of Commons.  Stating that he would not support a motion because it was “party political” just beggars belief!

Feel free to post a comment, Mr Taylor!

So Sorry!

Where on earth have I been?

In December, I welcomed my third child (second daughter into the world) and then I seemed to have the longest cold ever.  Not good enough in terms of excuses and I should be on top of my blog.

Will be in touch more often with my blog from now on.
